Stars Day Nurseries: Nursery management platform, new features

An admin platform that runs a chain of UK day nurseries: branches, rooms, sessions, child enrolment, bookings, attendance, invoicing and staff. The product was originally designed by another designer. I was brought in to design new features and fix complex flows the first version didn't handle well, working inside the existing brand, typography and components.

What I designed

Everything below was designed to the original brand guidelines, so new screens sit naturally next to the existing ones.

Global dashboard: every branch at a glance, with staff and child counts flagged as under managed, over managed or all good
Staff forecast: an hour-by-hour view of each room that shows where staffing falls short of the ratio, in red, before the day starts
Staff scheduling and payroll: week calendars to assign staff to rooms and shifts, with hours and rates for payroll
Booking flow rebuilt: ad hoc and recurring bookings, overriding recurring sessions, a booking pattern confirmation, and live slot availability per session
Faster time entry for hourly sessions: a 15-minute dropdown instead of a multi-step time picker
Child enrolment: new or existing guardian flow, siblings already at the nursery, room moves planned ahead, and leave date and offboarding
Attendance for children and staff, including ad hoc attendance, notified and un-notified absences, and a tablet app for practitioners to sign children in and out
Invoicing: one invoice for several children, invoice rollback, special hourly rates and surcharges, and notes on additional items
Branch calendar with terms, holidays and closures, plus month and year filters across data tables
